1. Introduction

This guide provides a complete overview of the official driving rules, legal requirements, safety guidelines, and travel obligations for YalaRide customers renting a vehicle in Romania. Driving here requires extra vigilance due to a mix of modern motorways, rural roads with horse-drawn carts, and strict traffic enforcement.

2. Driving Side & Road Basics

• Driving Side: Romania drives on the right-hand side of the road.

• Overtaking: Overtaking is done on the left.

• Priority:

• Intersections: At uncontrolled intersections, the "priority from the right" rule applies.

• Roundabouts: Vehicles already inside the roundabout generally have priority over those entering.

• Trams: You must yield to trams. Overtaking a tram is generally done on the right, unless there is insufficient space, in which case overtaking on the left is permitted (on one-way streets).

3. Required Documents for Driving in Romania

3.1 Mandatory Documents

• Passport (for foreigners only) National ID (for EU citizens).

• Valid driving licence:

4.2 Additional Rules
